A 7.8Ms earthquake hit Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province on May 12, causing unimaginable devastation in the region. The earthquake becomes a national concern, also a heartache for everyone of the company.  CPC and the State Council called on all Chinese people to help the disaster-stricken area.  One day later, at the night of May 13, the Party Committee of Sinopharm Foreign Trade decided that actions shall be taken immediately: firstly, checking of national medicine reserves shall be conducted according to the requirements of the Group, thus to be prepared for momentary medicine transportation to Sichuan; secondly, a donation campaign shall be launched in the company and a donation call was announced instantly.  

Party cadres and all staff made quick responses. In just one day, a donation of RMB 80,355 was collected from 155 staff at headquarter, including retirees and all staff of the Domestic Distribution Company.  Ms. Ji Huiran, a new employee of the company, has already made donation to public associations as soon as the quake occurred; Ms. Che Qing, who is abroad at present, expressed her will to donate money via email; company employees in Ghana, Africa donated money to the Chinese Embassy in the name of themselves and the company. Due to health conditions, many retired employees called to ask the company to donate money on their behalf.  Other employees also donated blood in the hope of helping the injured.  Everybody in the company, including those on business trips, was concerned about the people in the disaster-stricken area who were suffering from the disaster and in lack of clothes, food and medicine.

In face of such tragedy, we made donation as a means to show our support to the suffering people. In the meantime, we shall do our job whole-heartedly so as to help build our mother land into a more powerful country.  It is our firm belief that, with the leadership of CPC and the support of all Chinese people, we shall win this battle!
