2008-5-20
At 14:28, on May 12, 2008, an 8.0 MS earthquake struck Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province and caused unprecedented devastation. Faced with such disaster, Sinopharm Foreign Trade, a state-owned pharmaceutical company as well as an undertaker of the national medicine reserves, immediately took up its responsibilities and has played vital role in the disaster relief:
Firstly, the company made rapid response to it. In such emergency, every second counts. Soon after the emergency occurred, senior management set an emergency responding plan and the company staff responded quickly: inventory of related medicine was checked, require products were counted and arranged, and related credits and information were sorted out. Everything went on smoothly and rapidly.
Secondly, great importance has been attached to it. Emergent meetings at all levels were organized; all required work was divided and taken care of by specific personnel. As for senior management, apart from making overall arrangement, they personally went to the warehouse for inspection of reserved medicine in terms of period of validity, packing and status of transportation. For all the staff, everyone was devoted to the disaster relief under such strong leadership. Every pack of medicine being transported is our love to our compatriots in Sichuan, as well as to our motherland; it is also the braveness and confidence of all Chinese people in face of the disaster.
Thirdly, persistent efforts will be made. As the disaster relief progressing, greater demand for a wide range of medicine will be. Ever since the disaster struck, we’ve been working under great pressure; many staff has been working round the clock for days, yet no complaint was heard. Everyone is doing their utmost to provide emergency medicine to the suffered in the disaster area. We’re the solid backup for them and we’re ready for the long time disaster relief.
